Alberta Urban Muncipalities Association Planning Guidebook
The Natural Step Canada played a large role in the development and writing of a guidebook on municipal sustainability planning for the AUMA, the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association. A funding announcement by the federal government giving municipalities access to gas tax money in exchange for writing an integrated community sustainability plan (ICSP) prompted the AUMA to commission and distribute a guidebook. The guidebook was launched as a website in June 2006 at the AUMA President's Summit, where Ray Anderson, the CEO of Interface, was the keynote speaker.
The guidebook uses The Natural Step Framework to help municipal decision-makers integrate sustainabilty into their decision-making in a strategic way. It is particularly useful because it gives access to a wide variety of resources to municipalities of all sizes, resources and budgets. You can download the guidebook here.
