The Natural Step is an innovative non-profit that takes a big-picture, systems-based approach and focus on the root causes of our un-sustainability. We help build the capacity of Canadian communities and businesses to understand and take action on our most pressing environmental, social and economic challenges.

The Natural Step has developed into a respected, results-oriented national charity over the past few years.  In five years we have grown from 2 staff to a team of 12 highly competent and committed professionals. We provide education, training, coaching and advice to leaders and decision-makers.  We help them see the opportunities. We help them take action. And we help them bring about real, long-term change. We’ve been quietly working for the past five years to build a track record in Canada.

Here’s what we’ve done:

• Education, Training and Capacity Building – We have delivered education programs and workshops to over 100 organizations to help them plan for a better and more sustainable future. This has lead to thousands of actions and sustainable initiatives.
• Sustainable Communities – We have helped more than a dozen Canadian communities to achieve concrete outcomes resulting in renewable energy systems, green buildings, less waste and improved social programs.
• Sustainability at Home – We developed a highly successful guidebook and set of resources for sustainable household decision-making.
• Coaching and Mentoring Role Models – We have worked directly with dozens of leaders and change agents to help them create the strategies and innovation goals to lead their organizations toward a sustainable future.
• eLearning – We have delivered almost 20,000 licenses for our award-winning online courses to communities, businesses and students.
• Building a Movement for Change – Through hundreds of speeches and presentations, toolkits, case studies, newsletters, website, workshops and networking events we inspire, educate and connect thousands of leaders and innovators across the country and foster collaboration and change.

Canadians are no longer asking whether sustainability is needed, but instead how it can be achieved.  The time to act is now. Climate change won’t wait for the economy to get better.  We need your support to inspire more individuals to take action, and to provide more learning programs to communities ready to bring about change.
