TNS in Asia…
This is the challenge that I undertook about 8 months ago now. It is just the beginning of a long journey but the first steps look promising.
The group taking this challenge on has recently grown substantially: 16* alumni (15 of which are Chinese) from Blekinge Tekniska Högskola’s Masters for Strategic Leadership toward Sustainability have joined us (thanks to introductions by Tamara Connell and Roya Khaleeli)
They are providing precious help with the translation of the Natural Step website in Chinese, as well as the Sustainability Primer. We aim to have those online by September. If all goes well, we will move on to the e-Learning modules (Sustainability 101 and Step by Natural Step). These will prove essential to help us communicate with Chinese officials, businesses and communities.
As each one of these alumni has connections of his/her own, we plan to start raising awareness amongst those once the Chinese section of the website is live. The aim is to try and get a project with a Chinese organisation so as to be able to produce a case study.
Sachiko Takami of TNS Japan and Ella Lawton of TNS New Zealand have also offered their support in this challenge. We look forward to working with them now and in the future.
Whilst still in London, I have also been speaking to the Institute of Directors' China Interest Group and China Advisers Network and met with 2 officials from the Chinese Embassy in London. We are due to have more conversations once all return from their holidays.
As China will celebrate the 60th anniversary of its Cultural Revolution on October 1st, we embark on another kind of revolution, one that will accelerate change toward a sustainable Chinese society.
